Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors, particularly those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory care needs. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through recreational therapy and social engagement.

Duties

  • Plan, organize, and implement a variety of recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety during participation.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to develop personalized activity plans that cater to individual resident needs.
  • Facilitate group activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement.
  • Maintain a positive environment by encouraging resident participation and fostering relationships among residents.
  • Document participation levels and feedback from residents to continuously improve activity offerings.
  • Assist in scheduling events and managing calendars for activities to ensure smooth operations.

Experience
Candidates should possess experience or knowledge in the following areas:

  • Event planning within a senior care or healthcare setting.
  • Previous work experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care facilities.
  • Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, or recreational therapy practices.
  • Background in caregiving or home & community care experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff.
  • Understanding of aging issues counseling and social work principles is a plus.
