Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals for our residents, ensuring exceptional taste, quality, and presentation.
- Cater to a variety of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and diabetic diets.
- Show expertise in creating visually appealing puree meals that are appetizing and aesthetically pleasing.
- Collaborate with management and nutritionists to plan weekly menus that offer balanced, nutritious, and enticing options.
- Follow strict food safety and hygiene regulations to maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.
- Manage food inventory efficiently, coordinating with designated personnel for timely ordering and receiving of supplies.
- Maintain awareness of common allergens and implement necessary precautions to prevent allergic reactions.
- Consult with residents and their families to understand their dietary preferences, restrictions, and allergies.
- Work closely with care home staff to address specific dietary concerns or resident preferences.
- Seek feedback from residents to continuously improve the dining experience, making necessary adjustments to recipes, presentation, and flavours.
- Stay updated with culinary trends, new cooking techniques, and advancements in nutrition to enhance your skills.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience as a Chef/Cook, preferably in a care home, hospital, or similar setting.
- Familiarity with various dietary requirements and expertise in puree food preparation and presentation techniques.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP principles.
- Ability to adapt to individual resident preferences and dietary restrictions while maintaining nutritional balance and quality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
- Strong organizational skills to manage kitchen operations, including menu planning and stock management.
- Creativity in creating visually appealing puree meals and presenting meals attractively.
- Efficient time management skills to meet deadlines and serve meals on schedule.
- Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment, stand for long periods, and lift heavy objects when necessary.
- A positive attitude and a warm, friendly manner.
