At Long Eaton Day Services, being a Driver is about much more than getting people from one place to another. You will be a familiar and reassuring part of their day, helping the people we support travel safely and comfortably while providing a friendly, respectful experience.

Our service supports people with learning disabilities, complex health needs, physical disabilities and different communication needs. Every person is different, which means every day brings new experiences and opportunities to learn.

What makes this role special?

You do not need to have followed a traditional career in care to bring something valuable. Experience in driving, transport, retail, hospitality, customer service or another people-facing environment may give you many of the transferable skills needed to succeed. Our flexible split shifts make it easier to fit work around your lifestyle while still enjoying a rewarding role.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

< span style="color:#000000">· Provide safe, comfortable and respectful transport for people attending the service

· Help create a calm and welcoming journey at the beginning and end of each person's day

· Get to know the individuals you transport and understand how they prefer to communicate

· Work closely with support workers, team leaders and other colleagues

· Respond calmly and flexibly when plans or individual needs change

· Complete relevant safety checks and required records

· Support safe boarding and departure in accordance with each person's needs and agreed procedures

· Take part in the training required to perform your role safely and confidently

· Contribute to the wider team when appropriate and within your training and responsibilities

What we are looking for:

· A safe, responsible and considerate driver

· Friendly, patient and respectful

· Comfortable meeting and communicating with different people

· Observant and able to notice when someone may need additional reassurance or support

· Calm when circumstances change

· Rel iable and able to work as part of a team

· Willing to learn and take part in relevant training

· Committed to treating every person with dignity

· A D1 driving license for mini-busses

Support from the start
