We are seeking compassionate Bank Support Workers across North and South London to help people facing homelessness build confidence and independence.

Position: Bank Support Worker
Salary: £14.91 per hour
Location: North and South London
Hours: Flexible bank shifts
Contract: Bank / Locum
Closing date: 8 November 2026

About the role

Make a difference, gain experience and enjoy flexible work supporting people to build brighter futures.

A homelessness charity is recruiting multiple Bank Support Workers to join its frontline teams across North and South London. You will work across a variety of services, providing practical and emotional support to people facing homelessness, crisis and complex life challenges.

You could support young people leaving care, unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people, and individuals experiencing housing insecurity, mental health challenges or substance misuse and recovery needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing trusted relationships with people using the services.
  • Providing practical and emotional support tailored to individual needs.
  • Helping people build confidence, independence and everyday living skills.
  • Supporting individuals to overcome barriers and take steps towards their goals.
  • Contributing to safe and supportive environments.
  • Working with colleagues and partner organisations to help people move forward.

Please indicate whether you prefer North London or South London in your application or supporting statement.

About you

You will be compassionate, resilient and committed to helping people achieve positive outcomes. You will bring an adaptable approach and the ability to build relationships with people from different backgrounds.

You will have:

  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • A calm, practical approach to supporting people through challenging situations.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A commitment to treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • A flexible approach to working across services and supporting different needs.

This opportunity could suit an experienced support worker seeking flexibility or someone looking to broaden their frontline experience within a supportive organisation.

About the organisation

This charity provides accommodation, prevention and support services to marginalised young people across the UK. It believes everyone deserves a safe place to call home and the chance to fulfil their potential.

You will join a dedicated team helping people overcome difficult circumstances, develop independence and build more secure futures.

The organisation welcomes applications from all backgrounds. An appropriate DBS check will be carried out where required, and a criminal record will never be treated as an automatic barrier to employment.

Other roles you may have experience of could include Support Worker, Housing Support Worker, Homelessness Support Worker, Youth Support Worker, Project Worker, Relief Support Worker or Residential Support Worker. #INDSCP
